Las Vegas Freebies Today – 6/20/09

The NASCAR Café at Sahara will host the Cops vs Firemen B3 Eating Contest where prizes include a penthouse suite in Cabo San Lucas, Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Truck Series ticket packages and more. Contestants will be taking on the B3 ginormous burrito, which weighs in at 6 lbs and measures 2 feet in length. All police and firefighters get their first beer free. Join in the Father’s Day Charity Auction to benefit The Families of the Fallen or Injured Las Vegas Police and Firefighters. The eat-off begins at high noon.

Down at the other end of The Strip, Johnny McGuire’s Deli celebrates its grand opening at Town Square with a sandwich-eating contest. Anyone who can stuff a 24-inch sub down their gullet in 40 minutes or less gets a prize, recognition of the deli’s wall of fame and entry into the 24-inch Club. The person who gets it done the fastest wins a special grand prize. Doors open at 7 pm and the contest starts at 8:30 pm. To enter the contest call 982-0002. Spectators are welcome.

The Rock Tribute Series continues in the Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station with Dead or Alive’s homage to Bon Jovi. Doors open at 9 pm and the show starts at 10 pm. Admission is free.

Sin City Sinners and special guest Eddie Ojeda (of Twisted Sister) take their show to Ovation Lounge at Green Valley Ranch. Doors open at 10 pm and admission is free.

Steel Panther hosts another Lingerie Party inside Access Showroom at Aliante Station. Ladies in lingerie enjoy all-she-can drink champagne all night long and the first 50 ladies through the door take home a hot toy gift bag.

The 9th Annual Las Vegas Juneteenth Festival wraps up today at Sammy Davis Jr. Plaza in Lorenzi Park. Entertainment, BBQ and soul food, special guest appearances and exhibitor area. Special appearances will be made by George Wallace, cast members from Stomp Out Loud and Skip Martin, lead singer of Kool & The Gang. The festival takes place from 4-9 pm. Admission is free.

Augusten Burroughs, author of “Running With Scissors” will speak about life and work at 7 pm at the Clark Country Library (1401 E Flamingo).

Author William H. Bob Bailey will sign copies of his book “Looking Up! Finding My Voice in Las Vegas” at 2 pm at the Borders located at 2190 N Rainbow.

Audria K. Vain will sign copies of her book “Shadows of Camilla: The Sapphire Affair” at Barnes & Noble at 567 N Stephanie St at noon.

It’s Gangsters & Goodfellas Night at Fire It Up Gourmet Pizza (2263 N Green Valley Pkwy). The five-hour special event features appearances by Henry Hill and Frank Cullotta, who will lecture and answer questions about their lives. Both men will also sign copies of their books.
