The Palms Casino will host a pair of tribute events this Saturday, marking what would have been the 51st birthday of the King of Pop. One is a labor of love concert pulled together by some of Vegas’ most popular entertainers and the other is a rare U.S. screening of “Moonwalker.” Proceeds from both events will benefit music education in the Nevada public school system.
“Las Vegas Celebrates the Music of Michael Jackson” is a joint effort between 6W Entertainment and VegasHappensHere.com with an all-star line up of local performers including Clint Holms, Human Nature, the Sirens of TI, and cast members from Jersey Boys, Peepshow, Phantom – The Vegas Spectacular. Jersey Boys’ Erich Bergen will host the event, which will be held in the Pearl Concert Theatre and starts at 3 pm. Tickets start at $25 and are available through Ticketmaster or at the Pearl Box Office.
Later that evening Michael Jackson will be honored with a Celebrity Star dedication at 7 pm in the Brendan Theatres lobby. Theatre owner Johnny Brendan will present the star to Michael’s father, Joe Jackson.
Following the dedication ceremony CineVegas will present a rare U.S. screening of “Moonwalker” inside Brendan Theatres. A Q&A session will be held immediately after the screening with panelists Frank DeLeo (producer), Vincent Paterson (choreographer) and Kelly Parker (co-star).
