Or at least what’s left of them.
If you’re looking for a cool way to kill some time and spare your wallet, be sure to stop by the Venetian and check out the dinosaur fossil display set up in the former location of the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum now through Oct. 1.
On Oct. 3, Bonhams & Butterfields will put them all on the auction block. The auction will feature some 50 lots including the centerpiece item, a rare Tyrannosaurus rex named “Samson” found on a private ranch near Buffalo, South Dakota.
Also on display are a duckbilled dinosaur, a wooly mammoth skeleton and the world’s largest set of shark jaws measuring 11 x 8 ¾ ft in and containing four teeth that are seven inches minimum in length.
The least expensive piece in the display is “ A Fine Fossil Fish” expected to fetch from $1,500 to $2,000. The shark jaws will set you back $900,000 to $1.2 million and if you have to ask about Samson the T-Rex….well….let’s just say that a similar specimen known as “Sue” sold for $8.3 million in 1997 and currently resides at The Feld Museum in Chicago.
The display is open from 10 am until 6 pm and admission is free.

Samson measures in at 39 ft in length.
