It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Sin City and yesterday we even saw some snowflakes in the western part of the valley.

The cowboys are heading into their final weekend of NFR festivities and then it will be time for the city to turn its attention to the grand spectacle that is New Year’s in Las Vegas.

By the way….Las Vegas will be in on ABC’s Biggest New Year’s Dance Party this year and they’ll be taping today and tomorrow at an undisclosed (except to participants) location. The Light Group began a search via e-mail early last week for beautiful people between the ages of 21 and 35 who wanted to be involved.

The M Resort has transformed their pool deck into a winter wonderland and they’ll light their 100+ ft tree – claimed to be the nation’s tallest. Carolers will carol and Santa will visit and there will even be free hot chocolate and cookies. Event time is 5-8 pm and admission is free.

The Sin City Sinners welcome guest drummer Carmine Appice of Ozzy Osbourne, Rod Stewart and Blue Murder to the stage at Ovation Lounge inside Green Valley Ranch. Doors open at 10 pm and admission is free.

The Las Vegas Hilton has The Big Broadcast of 2009: A Holiday Salute to the Troops with performances by a host of local favorites including The Las Vegas Tenors, Swing City Dolls, Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show players, Lisa Dawn Miller, Trent Carlini and Lorena Peril. A special musical tribute to the military is scheduled to be performed by Master Sgt. Joseph Ford of the Nellis AFB Quartet and wounded warrior Corporal John Highland of the US Army 3rd Brigade.  $10 cash at the door or free admission with a toy donation or a military ID.
