If Riesling’s your thing, then you’ll want to check out Riesling Week (May 18-24) presented by Wines of Germany and the European Union.

Eight top Las Vegas restaurants will join more than 100 other fine dining rooms in New York, San Francisco, Miami and Chicago in offering a special selection of world-class Riesling from Germany, Austria and Alsace.

The white Riesling grape comes from the Rhine region of Germany and is that country’s most popular grape variety and is regarded to be a favorite for food pairings.

Participating Las Vegas Restaurants:

Aureole at Mandalay Bay – (702) 632-7401 – Watch the Wine Angels as they glide through the wine tower in search of the perfect bottle of vino.

Japonais Las Vegas at Mirage – (702) 792-7979 – Marvel at the glass fire wall, onyx bar and signature walnut “fin” ceiling-stone columns.

Lotus of Siam (953 E Sahara) – (702) 735-3033 – This unassuming, easy-to-miss strip mall eatery is a nationally-recognized Thai restaurant that those who should know say serves up the best Thai food ever, period.

Michael Mina Bellagio – (702) 693-7223 – This restaurant was just awarded its second consecutive Michelin Guide One Star honor — and that’s no easy feat when you’re serving seafood in the desert.

Pinot Brasserie at theVenetian – (702) 414-8888 – Sure, the name sounds like it got lost on the way to Paris. But they’re trying to fit in with Blue Man Group inspired cocktails like the “Bluemantini” and the “Sparkling Blue Morning.”

Rosemary’s Restaurant (8125 W Sahara) – (702) 869-2251 n – This off-strip gem received a Wine Spectator “Award of Excellence” in 2008 but more recently it has become known as the place where OJ Simpson enjoyed his final cocktail (reportedly a Johnny Walker Black and Coke) in October 2008 as a free man before being found guilty on several counts for robbery, kidnapping and weapons charges. Really.

Top of the World Restaurant, Stratosphere – (702) 380-7711 – The best rotating 360 degree view of Sin City, ‘nuff said.

Vintner Grill (10100 W. Charleston) – (702) 214-5590 – This one’s way off strip – technically in Summerlin – and boasts spectacular patio dining and an extensive selection of beers from around the world in addition to its award winning wine list.
