In Sin City, we tend to prefer our thrill rides dangling from the top of a building 112 stories high but there are three ways to get out and celebrate Roller Coaster Day. The three remaining coasters in town are The Roller Coaster at New York, New York Casino, Speed-The Ride at Sahara and the Canyon Blaster at Adventuredome.
Vegas Roller Coasters – 5 Facts
1 – The aptly named Speed – The Ride at Sahara is the fastest coaster in the city. Reaching a top speed of 70 mph it outraces The Roller Coaster at New York-New York by three mph.
2 – Speed is also the tallest coaster. Reaching a maximum height of 224 feet, the vertical climb is 23 feet higher than The Roller Coaster.
3 – The Roller Coaster gives you the longest ride for your money. You’ll dart around the rooftop of New York, New York for 2 min, 45 sec and someone has deemed that just long enough to get married but it will set you back $600 for a morning ceremony or $700 for a wedding under the neon lights (minister included).
4 – The Canyon Blaster at Circus Circus isn’t the longest or fastest coaster in Vegas but it is completely confined under raspberry sherbet colored glass and you won’t find that anywhere else.
5 – You can ride The Desperado at Buffalo Bill’s in Primm for free today. I know, technically not in Vegas but free is free and you’ll save $8 if you check it out today.
